Day 9 – GLOSSYBOX ADVENT-URES – MUA Makeup Academy Brow Define Eyebrow Pencil

How fortuitous. My current eyebrow pencil is running low and I wisely put off buying a new one just in case there was one in this advent calendar! The pencil’s lid has a built-in sharpener and the other end has a spoolie, which makes the whole process a lot easier than trying to dig around in my makeup box for either tool. It will also save me keeping my old pencil for the spoolie. This product is cruelty free and vegan.

First Impressions: The pencil has no shade name on it, but looking at the website I would guess this was the mid brown shade. This makes sense as you can press lightly or firmly to create lighter or darker lines. I broke the tip off to test the sharpener and it works really well. The product is fairly smudge-proof, but not entirely. My eyebrows are quite dark and they are fairly full with only one or two sparse areas. I found the colour was a good match and the forumla was creamy enough to fill in those sparse areas efficiently, but it did flake. I am used to using micro pencils so it did feel a tad bulky and imprescise. However, once I used the spoolie, it corrected any mistakes and swept any flakes away. I would say this product is well worth the £1.50 price tag.

Makeup Manifest – FREE printable resource

Have you ever created a great makeup look and wished you could remember what products you used to create it and how?

If you are a professional makeup artist (MUA) or makeup enthusiast you can record your favourite looks using our printable Makeup Manifest to refer to. An MUA may like to use it with clients to recommend particular looks. Clients can see the products you plan to use and determine whether they are cruelty-free and/or vegan.

Downloadable as a free PDF with rhubarbandburble.com watermarks, or available as an online purchase with watermarks removed (the Rhubarb and Burble logo will remain), you can keep track of those special looks and/or create a catalogue for clients to flick through.

Page 1 – Eyebrows and eyes
With 23 categories for eyebrows and eyes, you can record the products, brand name and shades used. The level of detail should satisfy most creative looks and any extra categories can be added manually at the bottom of page 2. There are two columns for recording whether products are cruelty-free and vegan.

Page 2 – Face and lips
There are another 23 categories, this time for face and lips, plus an extra four rows for any additional products used. Again, you can log the product descriptions, brand names and shades used. Again, you can tick the cruelty-free and vegan options.

Page 3 – Designer
Get artistic and design makeup looks for portfolios, clients and memories. There is an illustration of a closed eye for designing eyeshadow and liner placement, etc, plus a woman’s face for coordinating the whole face. ( I haven’t created a male version of this document, but please let me know if you would like one.)

Page 4 – Photographs and notes
If you take photos of your special creations, print them directly onto the A4 page or print, cut and stick them on! Record any extra notes, such as the tools you used, ingredients which may cause irritation or foundation blend calculations, so you don’t forget anything!
